I was fascinated watching this magpie working so hard to get something out of the nest, I knew that it was empty of baby birds but he kept trying to cram its head in and pluck out the nest contents. It wasn't till we made the last picture really big we realized what the magpie was after. It was a dead baby bird, at first I was really grossed out but then the light came on and it was a good thing the magpie was cleaning house, if the dead bird would have stayed there till next spring the birds would probably refuse to nest in there. I still have a problem with the whole survival of the fittest and the circle of life, I always feel sorry for the "little guy".
